Computer Deconstruction

Photos from a computer unit that I took apart yesterday. I'm planning to try and grow plants in the slightly more hollow inside, as a mishmash of nature and technology.

The Sun and the Moon Prints

This week we had lots of people doing lino printing in the art department. There was also GCSE art exams going on in the main rooms, so our tiny sixth form room was FULL of prints drying. By the second day of the exam we started to tape up the prints to the wall in order to make more desk space for  people to work on.

A collection of some of the prints on the walls (there were more behind me)
My prints were based on the photoshoot I did with my sister a couple of weeks ago, and I'm very happy with the overall results. Below are two prints I scanned.

As well as lino printing, at the weekend I bought some new art supplies, including this iridescent blue acrylic which I'm really excited to try out. I want to try painting some abstract, holographic inspired backgrounds, which should be challenging but interesting to do.

Stress?

I question stress in the title, because although I feel under allot of stress now, my past week has been very up and down. From two extremes of being almost immobilised with panic to feeling like I could do anything. In this past week I have passed by driving test (second time, one minor) and completed my final piece for my current A2 Art coursework, yet these moments seem fleeting amongst the stress before and after. Even with my final piece done, I'm still up a day after the deadline trying to force words onto a page in the form of an essay.

I know that at another time, maybe even in a few days I'll look back at this post, and laugh at these words.

Life Drawing Week 6

For the last week of life drawing, I wanted to again use acrylic paints, however I experimented with another colour scheme; reds, yellows and oranges. I also used a purple colour to the especially dark areas. Overall I'm happy with how it came out, however I was unable to get it all finished within the time - this is a key area that I need to improve in.

Life Drawing Week 5

Last night was the first week of life drawing after Christmas. I have concluded that I don't like drawing a side on reclining pose. Even though it should be easier, all my better drawings are seated poses or a portrait view of a reclining pose.  Although my first attempt didn't turn out so well with the reclining pose, I wanted to try again with using the acrylic paints on the second pose. Since I have trouble with making a skin tone, I used blues, and overall I'm happy with how it came out - something I want to use more in my work.

First attempt that failed
